Titanomachia: The Birth of the Gods

The Titanomachia celebrates the creation story of the Ancient Greek Gods as told by Hesiod in Works and Days. As part of this celebration, we also honor various festivals celebrated within the first month of the Athenian Calendar.

Offerings and Ritual Actions:

• Giving food offerings to the Protogonoi (Gaia, Ouranos, Eros, and Tartaros)
• Giving Roses to Aphrodite in honor of the Aphrodisia
• Giving food offerings to Kronos in honor of the Kronia
• Giving honey to Zeus and preparing Ktesios Jars for Diogennia (Zeus’ Birthday)
• Giving apples to Zeus and Hera in honor of the Gamelia or wedding of Zeus and Hera*
• Giving a new peplos (dress) to Athena in honor of the Panathenaia.

* The Gamelia was traditionally celebrated in January/February by the Greeks, but we moved it to this festival as the context seems to fit.
